AUSTRALIA EXPO

The 2011 Australia Expo took place in Barcelona on 23 November.

It was held, as on previous occasions, in the magnificent Casa Asia building in the heart of the city.

This 1-day event to promote Australia as a trade, study and tourist destination was officially opened by Her Excellency Ms Zorica McCarthy, Australian Ambassador to Spain.

The business section in the morning was well-attended, and included speakers talking about the ease in which business can be conducted in Australia and the various opportunities which are available.

ASBA member Singapore Airlines had a speaker explaining the flight availability from Spain to Australia and Singapore Airlines offered a special discounted fare for those attending the Expo.

The morning session ended with a networking session which included a coffee break. Those attending took advantage to meet and talk with the different speakers and exchange business cards.

The afternoon sessions included a book launching; lectures on Australian history and gastronomy; a presentation on studying in Australia. A musical performance related to Australia’s outback concluded the day’s events.

All in all, it proved to be a most successful day in highlighting the business opportunities to be had in Australia and creating greater awareness of Australia and what the country has to offer.
